Q&A with CloudPOST’s Contributing Editor, Kathy Xu

Hiro Matsunami, Manager of Product Management, NECHiro Matsunami, Manager of Product Management for NEC Corporation, recently took the time to engage with CloudPOST to express why HostingCon Global is a must-attend event for NEC. HostingCon is taking place April 3-6 in Los Angeles, and Mr. Matsunami is looking forward to the event’s networking aspect. In this Q&A we also cover topics such as NEC’s product and service portfolio, what makes the company unique, and its future.

CloudPOST, Kathy Xu (CP-KX) Question: Tell our readers about your company. What do you do and what problems are you attempting to solve?

NEC, Hiro Matsunami (NEC-HM) Answer: NEC Corporation of America is a subsidiary of NEC, and has been successfully operating in the American market for over 67 years now. Headquartered in Irving, Texas, we have a presence spread coast to coast in the U.S. and take pride in serving customers from different verticals. There is no looking back from data-intensive applications and buzzing ”digital transformation,” so choosing the right infrastructure to get leverage without straining the balance sheet is a key concern for today’s customer. Providing exactly that infrastructure is the role of NEC. Our portfolio includes an extensive range of servers, storage, and networking offerings as well as solutions in security, data analytics, IoT and much more. With over 117 years of extensive experience in the industry and over 60,000 patents, we believe in providing solutions that not only serve the purpose of the customer but also add great value to the way they operate.

CP-KX Q: What has your company achieved that makes it unique in the industry?

NEC-HM A: Customer focus and continuous innovation is NEC’s recipe to distinguish itself in the industry. It has been consistently ranked in the Top 50 innovative companies for many years. NEC offers a wide range of IT solutions and services that help our customers both to take a plunge in adopting new applications, and to optimize performance for their traditional requirements. We are a customer-centric company and strongly believe in learning continuously from our customer and partner ecosystem. We also take feedback from our community very seriously and strive to offer the best in our space. The things that we hear the most about from our customers’ testimonies are the quality of our products, innovation of our solutions, our personalized support and reasonable TCO. Such inputs not only position us well but also motivate us to strive for more.

CP-KX Q: How do you see the cloud industry evolving?

NEC-HM A: Cloud computing has been one of the greatest turns in the IT infrastructure industry and has completely disrupted how we look at, rely on and demand performance from the underlying infrastructure. With different types of deployment and delivery models of cloud computing, we see cloud as greatly complementing next-gen applications and enterprises. While there are still a few sticking points, such as security, control and visibility which can make customers have second thoughts, all of them can be addressed well with proper education, the right set of solutions, and vendor support through the transition to cloud or hybrid environments.

CP-KX Q: How are you looking to strategically guide your business over the next few years?

NEC-HM A: There is a strong set of parameters that change or evolve our strategies at NEC and help us in making success stories around the globe. One of the key points that make us intro- and retrospect is how today’s customer wants to view the solutions we offer. NEC continuously raises the bar of innovation for the solutions we can offer to customers and is always on the lookout for the solution partners and resellers needed to reach out to the customer in the best way.

CP-KX Q: What would you like to accomplish at HostingCon?

NEC-HM A:  At NEC we love HostingCon. It is one of those events that we don’t want to miss. NEC offers a gamut of IT solutions to cater customers with different use cases, and HostingCon gives us a great opportunity to connect with the who’s who of the hosting world. We are excited to participate, and looking forward to talking about what we can offer and how we can help our friends in the community to solve their operational challenges on a daily basis. See you there!

CP-KX: Thank you for your time and best of luck at HostingCon.
