Q&A with CloudPOST’s Contributing Editor, Kathy Xu
Recently, CloudPOST spoke with BoldGrid’s Product Evangelist, Mike Demo. BoldGrid will be attending HostingCon Global, which takes place April 3-6 in Los Angeles at the LA Convention Center. At HostingCon, BoldGrid hopes to connect with potential hosting partners. Also, Todd Robinson, BoldGrid’s CEO, will be participating on three panels, roundtable and talks during the event’s education sessions.
In this Q&A, Mr. Demo covered topics including what sets the company apart from others in the industry and the future of the business.
CloudPOST, Kathy Xu (DCP-KX) Question: Tell our readers about your company. What do you do and what problems are you attempting to solve?
BoldGrid, Mike Demo (BoldGrid-MD): Question: BoldGrid is a suite of plugins for WordPress to help users to streamline their workflow. One of most important things we learned is that the majority of new WordPress users struggle to get a site up and running in short order, which leads to frustration and ultimately high turnover rates that negatively impact a web host’s bottom line. Our keystone plugin is an easy-to-use drag and drop WordPress SiteBuilder, similar to Wix, Weebly or SquareSpace.
CP-KX Q: What has your company achieved that makes it unique in the industry?
BoldGrid-MD A: We have the first full site builder built on WordPress, the world’s most popular Content Management System. Our Official Hosting Partners have proven the ability to reduce cancellation rates dramatically by installing BoldGrid at the point of sale. This improved cancellation rate is attributed to the fact that BoldGrid has enabled users to get live in under an hour with minimal setbacks. Moreover, the client has a site fully hosted on WordPress with the freedom of Open Source.
Also, in the tool itself, we are using the standards of the WordPress Codex and don’t use short codes in our plugin. Everything is bootstart friendly DIVs. This will allow for a fast load time and does not lock the user to our plugin.
CP-KX Q: How do you see the cloud industry evolving? What do you think is the greatest challenge in the cloud industry?
BoldGrid-MD A: The Internet of Things is a reality and with that come a dependence on cloud services and providers. We need a way to protect our customers and products from events that will cause loss of revenue or service. Small errors are hugely magnified, and we see significant providers go offline regularly.
CP-KX Q: Where are you looking to strategically move your business within the next few years?
BoldGrid-MD A: We want to be the preferred website creation solution that hosting companies offer their clients. We will be adding additional distribution channels and official hosting partners. Also, we are adding a value-added marketplace of turnkey solutions we can provide small business.
CP-KX Q: What would you like to accomplish at HostingCon?
BoldGrid-MD A: We hope to connect with potential hosting partners to demonstrate how BoldGrid can help them improve retention rates, reduce churn rate, and maximize ARPU while giving an excellent customer experience. Also, BoldGrid’s CEO Todd Robinson will be participating in three different panels, roundtables and talks during the education sessions of HostingCon.
CP-KX: Thank you for your time and best of luck at HostingCon. Readers, if you are interested to learn more about BoldGrid, visit https://www.boldgrid.com/.
