Recently, Data Center POST spoke with Unigma’s Founder, Kirill Bensonoff about the problems Unigma is attempting to solve, key market trends pushing companies to the cloud and what Mr. Bensonoff accomplished at HostingCon, the largest gathering of the hosting and cloud services community in the world. The conference took place between July 24-27 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.
Q and A with Data Center Post’s Contributing Editor, Kathy Xu
Data Center POST, Kathy Xu (DCP-KX) Question: Tell our readers Unigma: What do you do and what problems are you looking to solve?
Unigma, Kirill Bensonoff (UNIGMA-KB) Answer: We help MSP and IT organizations manage clouds – performance management, cost analytics, automation for Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure and Google clouds. We offer unified cloud monitoring, built for IT service providers. Unigma does monitoring, alerting, cost management and reporting for public clouds – AWS, Azure, Google Compute Engine, with benefits that are important to MSPs and service providers – multi-tenant, single pane of glass views, reporting, policy driven alerting, and integration with industry tools like Kaseya, Autotask, ConnectWise, built to your brand, and backed by a NOC service to augment your team.
We created Unigma out of necessity. Customers were increasingly interested in using public clouds — specifically AWS and Azure — to host their infrastructure and applications, and we wanted to create a new services offering around those platforms. My team and I vetted several available products but couldn’t find one with the functionality we needed. None of the products had a single pane of glass, policy-driven alerting, or integration with an existing service desk, so we decided to build our own.
DCP-KX Q: What are some key market trends pushing companies to the cloud?
UNIGMA-KB A: Clouds are scalable, easy-to-use and require a lot less expertise to maintain. The big cloud players such as AWS want organizations everywhere to move their data into their ecosystems. Many companies are seeing the value of cloud technology and are transitioning their infrastructure and data ecosystems into the cloud. Also, moving data to the cloud, as well as hybrid cloud strategies is becoming easier.
According to Synergy Research Group, Public IaaS cloud services leads the overall cloud segment in annualized revenue growth, with the market leaders AWS and Microsoft Azure growing at over 50% in 2015. Further, as evidenced by the Kaseya MSP Survey, IaaS services, along with cloud monitoring, are amongst the fastest growing segments for IT service providers across the world.
Unigma will revolutionize the way MSPs, CSPs and IT service providers deliver services in the cloud. We are proud of what Unigma delivers and are looking forward to working with our partners to help them achieve their goals of extending their services into IaaS clouds.
DCP-KX Q: Are there any new developments on the horizon for Unigma?
UNIGMA-KB A: Yes. A cost comparison calculator, which is a free tool to allow companies to compare costs in AWS, Azure and Google cloud, and choose the least expensive one.
DCP-KX Q: What do you hope you accomplished at HostingCon this year?
UNIGMA-KB A: I hope I was able to get the word out about Unigma and find partners to go to market with.
DCP-KX: Thank you for your time and best of luck at HostingCon 2016! Readers, if you are interested in learning more about Unigma, please visit https://www.unigma.com/
